Budget Special: The Index of Consumer Sentiment Q4 2024
This is our 'Budget Special' Index of Consumer Sentiment report.
With pre and post-budget surveys around the announcements made in the 30th October Budget, this report explores how consumers are responding. The data shows that there had been a significant decrease in Consumer Sentiment prior to the budget announcements, before falling even further afterwards.
The Q4 2024 data collection for the Index of Consumer Sentiment ran in mid October, and the post-budget survey in the week of 4th November. The pre-budget survey is based on 2,854 responses and the post-budget survey had 1,811, both surveys were run on our consumer panel.
The full Q4 report with detailed analysis will follow in December.
Overall Trend
The overall Index of Consumer Sentiment decreased significantly to 70.5 in the runup to the budget, and even further to 68.0 after the budget
